Andy Griffith Show, The...Aunt Bee's Medicine Man-John Dehner guest-stars as traveling medicine man Colonel Harvey, who can charm the birds out the trees -and, more importantly, the money out of Aunt Bee's pocketbook. Swept off their collective feet by the mellifluous Col. Harvey, Aunt Bee and her lady friends purchase great quantities of the Colonel's special 'Indian Elixir' -which, as they soon discover, contains a tad more thatn the legal limit of alcohol. The scene in which Bee and her entourage drunkley perform several choruses of 'Chinatown, My Chinatown' is unforgettable. First telecast on March 11, 1963, 'Aunt Bee's Medicine Man' was written by John Wheldon. The Loaded Goat- An explosive situation developes when Cy Hudgins' pet goat Jimmy eats a box full of dynamite. The nervous Mayberryites spend the rest of the day gingerly tiptoeing around the goat, terrified that the animal will blow up 'real good' at any moment. In the end, it is up to Barney to lead Jimmy out of town in a manner reminiscent of Hamelin's Pied Piper (or, in this case, Pied Harmonica Player). Forrest Lewis is cast as Hudgins, while Bing Russell, father of Kurt Russell, is seen as Burton. Written by Harvey Bullock, 'The Loaded Goat' made it's network TV debut on January 28, 1963. The Rivals-Opie suffers the pangs of puppy love for the first time in his life. Unfortunately, when the object of his addections, like Karen Burgess (Ronda Jeter) rejects him. Opie transfers his affections to a somewhat older woman-Themla Lou! At first amused by the situation, Thelma's boyfriend Barney soon grows intensely jealous of his pint-sized competitor. Written by Harvy Bullock 'The Rivals' first aired on April 8, 1963. Dogs, Dogs, Dogs-Andy and Barney steel themselves for the impending arrival of State Investigator Somerset (Robert Cornthwaite), a man notorious for his intolerance of any deviation from rules and regulations. It is Andy's hope that Somerset will allocate extra funds to keep the Mayberry courthouse afloat.... Click here or on the image for details
